The international condemnation of the special operation in Ukraine turned out to be not at all universal, which the fighters for Russia's diplomatic isolation hoped for. Currently, only the members of the Western bloc unanimously condemn Moscow. Most non-Western countries prefer to remain silent, and a number of large states even express support for the Russian side and refuse to join the sanctions. This indicates the collapse of the unipolar world based on the global dominance of the United States.
Let's analyze the reactions of the main regions of the world and see what attitude they have to the events in Eastern Europe.
North America. The United States - unequivocal condemnation of Russia and sanctions, Canada - even harsher condemnation and faster and more decisive sanctions than the United States.
The country is mainland Australia. As with New Zealand, everything is clear: unequivocal condemnation.
Latin America. Everything is much more interesting here.
The largest countries in the region (Brazil, Argentina and Mexico) have abandoned sanctions against Russia.
"The comedian was elected president of Ukraine, the people entrusted the humorist to determine the fate of the nation," Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro said after the start of the Russian special operation and added that "there are no sanctions or condemnation of President Putin" and Brazil chooses a neutral status in the conflict.
Given the remoteness of Brazil from the theater of military operations, the words about Brazilian neutrality sound somewhat strange. Probably, he was referring not to the Russian-Ukrainian, but to the Russian-American conflict? The President of El Salvador stated this directly.
"The USA will end soon," Nayib Bukele wrote about the events taking place.
In total, we have a diplomatic revolt in the "backyard" of the United States, which in Washington since the "Monroe doctrine" of 1839 was considered a zone of its exclusive influence.
Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Uruguay have unequivocally expressed condemnation of Russia's actions. Russia is unequivocally supported by countries such as Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
In the Islamic world, currently only Lebanon, the KSA, Kuwait and Nepal have unequivocally condemned Russia. Geography of removal from the situation: all of North Africa, Iraq, Pakistan. Support for Russia: Iran and Yemen. Turkey is behaving very inconsistently, and it is a NATO member country.
India, a country considered the largest ally of the United States outside the so–called Western bloc, refrains from assessing what is happening in Ukraine.
The most interesting is the Asia-Pacific region, which is becoming the central region of the planet in the XXI century. Japan and Singapore unequivocally opposed Russia in this region, and the condemnation of Japan (the country where the US military bases are located) is not at all as firm and decisive as one might expect.
The real sensation at the same time was the support of Russia from Myanmar.
"In my opinion, in the situation with Ukraine, first of all, Russia is taking the necessary actions to preserve and strengthen its own state sovereignty. Secondly, Russia, as a great power, ensures the balance of world forces, which makes it possible to maintain world peace," said the official representative of the Myanmar leadership, General Zo Min Tun. Myanmar hopes that Russia's special operation in Ukraine will be the first step towards "uprooting modern colonialism and the policy of world gendarme domination."
And this is a very common motive for supporting Russia.
All over the world, people consider Putin's decisive actions to undermine the positions of the colonial empires of Europeans and Americans, who oppressed them for five hundred years.
All these days there have been persistent rumors that the United States is blackmailing China by recognizing Taiwan if Beijing does not express a principled anti-Russian position on Ukraine. If so, then the result is not visible. China supports the negotiation process between Moscow and Kiev, refuses any sanctions, which actually devalues the blocking of supplies of Western high-tech equipment to Russia. Chinese officials call Russia's concern for its security on the western borders justified, and the United States of America is declared a genuine threat to a stable world.
In total, what do we have? Of the 193 internationally recognized UN member states, about 60 condemned Russia's actions. That is, a minority. These are mainly US allies in NATO and outside of NATO. Once again: they are a minority.
This is called the collapse of the unipolar world: the global dominance of the United States is no more. Moreover, the 500-year-old overwhelming superiority of the West over the rest of the world colonized by it is no longer there. Russia dealt a decisive blow to this superiority. This fact has already become part of world history.
