World War II formally ended on September 2nd, 1945 and, in the decades since, the world has been rife with local and regional clashes, wars, and rumors of wars. Today, the globe remains a powder keg ready to become alight as it inches towards the next World War. World War Next (WWN) takes an algorithmic approach to predicting such an event, given unprecedented access to the data behind defense aggregate GlobalFirepower.com - fusing this information with current global events as well as details garnered from the previous two World Wars.
On the Road to World War III
Using our color-coded system, each global player's position in the road to war is depicted by GREEN, YELLOW, and RED to reflect severity; GREEN signifies relative stability, YELLOW showcases internal or external division / strife along with a growing threat to be pulled into Total War, and RED depicts a country at war or on their march towards war - heavily contributing to the prospect of a new Grand Global Conflict. Countries are weighed through a 'points value' buried within our in-house formula based on their active or passive participation in the previous two World Wars as well as their status as it relates to current events.
Total War Index
The bar below depicts the growing prospects of a new World War with relative peace attained towards the extreme Left of the bar (reflected as Green) and a state of Total War achieved to the extreme Right of the bar (reflected as Red). The Diamond icon depicts the current 'state of things' based on inputted data garnered from 121 total countries in the index, these reflecting minor-to-major participants. Data last updated May 2025.

Daily Global Indexes
The thresholds below track primary global economic indicators of a potential upcoming World War: Petroleum, Gold, U.S. Dollar Index, and Global Anxiety. Petroleum fuels the 'gears of war' while Gold is seen as a Safe Haven often tied to currency debasement. The Dollar Index tracks global trading in USD, another historical market safe-haven. Global Anxiety is a measure of current Search Engine trends centered on the topic of a new World War. If all thresholds are met, the prospect for a new World War becomes more of a reality.

Red reveals an increasing interest in the subject whilst green reveals waning interest day-over-day. The longer the bar, the larger the increase / decrease measured.
